Our site complies with all of the automatic checkpoints of the W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and validates as XHTML 1.0 Strict.XHTML 1.0 Strict

Some of the accessibility features are:

  • Alternative text is available for all images
  • The site uses a minimal amount of JavaScript and is fully functional without JavaScript turned on
  • The site uses an accessible colour scheme
  • The site is fully readable without CSS turned on
  • Layout of content is controlled using CSS wherever possible
  • The site allows you to enlarge or reduce the font size

Useful Keyboard Shortcuts

  • tab - logical tab order for navigating without a mouse. Use the tab key on your keyboard to move to the next link or field. Use shift-tab to move backwards, and the enter key to follow links and submit forms.
  • backspace - moves you back through the pages you have already visited.
  • alt and left arrow/cursor - moves you back through the pages you have already visited.
  • alt and right arrow/cursor - moves you forward through pages you have already visited.
  • ctrl and home - takes you to the beginning of the page.
  • ctrl and end - takes you to the end of the page.
  • spacebar - moves the page down.
  • page up and page down - moves the page up and down.

Using Access keys in different browsers

  • Internet Explorer 5+: Hold down the ALT key and select the number of the access key, then press ENTER.
  • Internet Explorer 4: Hold down the ALT key and select the number of the access key.
  • Internet Explorer 5+ for Mac: Hold down the CTRL key and select the number of the access key.
  • Netscape 6+: Hold down the ALT key and select the number of the access key.
  • Opera 9: Hold down the SHIFT and ESC keys and the list of access keys appears.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Hold down the ALT and Shift keys then select the number of the access key.
